Parent handbook: first weeks with the Rebels
New family guide Get paperwork, field habits, and program pages in one place
Apple Valley Rebels is a parent-run SCJAAF program. This page is a working order of operations, not a legal contract. Always confirm time-sensitive items on the Rebels home page and the Information desk where PDFs and forms are listed. When a board member posts a change, the dated note on the home page is the one to trust for that week.
Bookmark these program hubs once you know your child’s path: the football page for tackle and 7v7 field routine at James Woody Park, and the cheer page for sideline practice expectations and comp notes. The About Us page explains the club structure. Use this handbook the first time through registration so you are not hunting three different emails for the same document.
Your first two weeks, in order
- Read the latest announcement strip on the home page for registration cutoffs, league meetings, and weather holds. Screenshot the date if it affects practice.
- Open the Information page and download the packet that matches your child’s team level. File physicals and ID copies the way the PDF describes so check-in is one visit, not a chain of re-sends.
- Confirm your head coach or team parent has your cell number. Many squads also use a group app or a simple email list. If you are unsure which channel is official, start with the contact tree on the program page, not a random text thread.
- Plan for James Woody Park traffic and the High Desert sun. Arrive a few minutes early, bring water, and know which gate your age group is told to use if the field is split across zones.
- If you are new to the sport, read the football or cheer overview the board keeps current. It explains how squads are grouped and when equipment nights usually land.
- For sponsorship questions, vendor tables, or tax questions tied to a donation, use the Sponsors page and the board email shown in the site footer, not a coach’s private inbox. That keeps contracts and names straight for the non-profit files.
Board and coach boundaries
Coaches focus on the roster, safety, and practice. The admin@avrebels.com line is for policy, money, and league forms that cross teams. If you are not sure which path to use, start with a short message to the board and they will point you. That keeps the chain clear when something has to be escalated to the league on a tight deadline.
