Tackle football program

Practices and games

For the 2026 fall season, the first week of full-team practice is scheduled Monday through Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at James Woody Park unless the board emails a change for heat or field closure. The week after Labor Day we typically move to a three-day block, Tuesday through Thursday, and coaches will post the exact end times. Home games for our program use Apple Valley High School and Granite Hills High School as in past years. Conference play is on Saturdays. The SCJAAF grid does not get posted until the week of our first game, and we will send the link the moment it is live. See the home page for the latest announced dates in line with the board calendar.

Checklist before your athlete takes the field

Register and pay on time, upload the physical in the form your team manager requests, and label every piece of gear. Bring a water bottle every night, and plan to stay for the full session unless a coach releases your group. If you are new, read the code of conduct on the Information page and ask the Chapter Athletic Director about the mandatory conditioning (grass) hours in late July. That keeps you aligned with the same rules we list on the home page news block.

Teams and divisions

League age is the athlete’s age as of July 31 of the current season. Any player weighing 5% or more above the max certification weight for a division at the official physical and weigh-in is moved to the next higher division when age rules allow. When you are on the cusp, bring a copy of your birth certificate to certification so the staff can place you quickly.

Equipment that matches the level we coach

Head health matters at every level of youth football. We use Riddell for helmets and key protective gear. Their line includes designs built to address impact forces, and the brand is what many pro and college programs trust. The Apple Valley Rebels keep Riddell as our program supplier so families see one consistent fit and recertification path each year.

We send every game helmet to Riddell for reconditioning and recertification each season. The process includes cleaning, inspection, repainting as needed, repair, and a fresh NOCSAE certification before the shell goes back to a team rack.

Safety

Riddell Concussion Reduction Technology (CRT) is part of the helmet system we use in our program, which is why the brand lines up with both NFL use at the pro level and our own sideline rules. The PDF on the right covers parent and athlete expectations and how to fit a helmet the way our equipment managers check it each week. Read it before the first full-contact week.

"Honor your opponent. He is raising the bar, providing the hurdle which will make you leap higher, challenging your limits so you go further."

Southern California Junior All American Football Conference

We play in SCJAAF, a large Southern California conference with more than two dozen local chapters. Schedules, standings, and opponent lists roll out on the conference tools each season. Use the button to open the league’s public opponent and chapter list when the board points you to the current year.
